Step 1.1 Review legislative requirements
Allow for public inspection
The LGA requires that a corporate plan or an amendment to a corporate plan must be open to inspection for at least 30 days prior to adoption by council. [Section 507 (b)].
Where an amendment is minor, such as a simple word change, and does not change the overall intent or strategic direction expressed in the corporate plan, councils are still legally obliged to pass a resolution at a general meeting adopting the changes to the Corporate Plan. In these instances, this should be sufficient to keep the community informed through the minutes of the general meeting.
