Community needs are programmed into new projects

Water security, new airport facilities and parks and playground upgrades are just some of the 81 approved projects in the $58.5 million 2019–21 Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program (LGGSP).

Councils estimate that these projects will support almost 900 full time equivalent jobs, increase the livability and boost the economy of local communities across the state.

There is a very broad range of projects funded by LGGSP including funding for sewage treatment, waste water plant upgrades, as well as road infrastructure and high-tech community hubs. A number of councils will also receive funding for security camera upgrades to make their communities safer.

The $58.56 million boost for the 2019–21 Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program is designed to provide funding assistance to support local governments to deliver priority infrastructure and essential services that meet the identified needs of their communities.

Projects approved under the latest round must be completed by 30 June 2021.
