Women in government
The Queensland Government is committed to increasing the number of women in senior executive positions in local government, both elected representatives and employees.
Evidence shows that having diversity of gender on boards and in government provides financial, performance and social benefits.
To this end, the department has supported approximately 30 women, including seven councillors and more than 20 senior executives from regional and remote councils to attend a two-day education workshop on Governance Essentials for Local Government run by the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
